My name is Lizzie, I'm 10 years old and in the 4th grade.
I like origami and drawing, and littlest pet shop. I love Hello Kitty too.
I have 3 sisters and 2 brothers. My little sister Becca gets her finger poked sometimes to make sure her sugar level is ok. My mommy has some friends whose kids are sick with diabetes, and I wanted to do something to help, so my mommy and I came up with the Cranes 4 a Cure. I want to raise money for the Juvenile Diabetes Foundation. My sister is lucky, she doesn't have diabetes, but a lot of kids do, and it isn't fair. Anyone can get juvenile diabetes, you don't have to have a family history. I think they need to find a cure fast so the kids who have it can be needle free, I don't like needles.

So I guess you want to know what Cranes 4 a Cure is.
It is said that anyone who folds a thousand origami cranes will be granted a wish. Sometimes relatives or friends fold the cranes for someone who has an illness in hopes for recovery or a long life.

My goal is to raise $1,000.00. For every dollar I raise, I am going to make an origami crane and put the name of the person who sent me that dollar on the wing. Then I am going to string all the cranes together and give it to the juvenile diabetes foundation with all the money I raise. Then my wish will be to find a cure. Please help me help those kids with this bad disease. My mommy says she will take a picture of every crane I make and post it here for everyone to see. For more information, please email my mommy, her name is Jenny. A dollar isn't a lot, but it can make a difference. I hope to get some pictures of kids you can help soon.
Thank you.

Another Summer gone...

Believe it or not, I'm still here.  I am still trying to raise money for diabetes research.  My aunt in England just requested cranes, but this time she wants them, so I am going to make her them and send them, but also make cranes for the cure.  I'm thinking about what I'm going to do for my Bat Mitzvah, and I'm pretty sure it will involve cranes...or something origami.  I can't wait!  Next week I start middle school, I'm kind of nervous.  This is all my brothers and sisters at my oldest sister's graduation.
As always, a dollar isn't a lot, but it goes a long way...please help me help others.

125 more

Sorry it's been so long.  We have had a really busy year so far.  I finally got a chance to post these pictures for you.  These are 125 Cranes.  They are all for Lisa.  I did something different this time though.  These don't have any names on them.  Lisa is picking them up from me sometime next week and they are going to be displayed at her sons wedding.  Neat huh.

I still have more cranes I'm working on.  I'm glad I always have something to do.  The walk for a cure is coming up really fast too!  We're doing that again this year.  Our team is still Team Giulia.  I also got a new donation page.  Remember it just takes a dollar, what it would cost to get a candy bar in the check out line, to help.  We will find a cure.

I'm Still Here

I just wanted to let everyone know that I'm still here.  And I'm still doing Cranes!  I am working on another 125.  Our school had our Kids for a Cure Walk in November.  It was a lot of fun.  We brought the big shoe my daddy made and put it out on the track.  Everyone thought it was cool.  We raised a lot of money for JDRF.  We are having our second annual Diabetes walk for a cure in May.  We are Team Giulia again.  I can't wait.  My mommy needs to charge her battery on her camera, but I promise to post some pictures soon.  Until then, don't forget if you have a spare dollar to donate to my chip in.  100%  of donations go straight to JDRF to help find a cure for Type 1 diabetes.  We can find a cure, but it's going to take all of us!

Cranes!

I have decided to start my Cranes again.  I like the sneakers, but the Cranes are fun to make, and they look really neat hung.  I'm going to aim for another $1,000.00 for JDRF.  The 2nd annual Walk for a Cure is in April, so I hope I can raise that much between now and then.  I raised a little over $300.00 in sneaker sales, so thank you to everyone who helped.  Please pass my blog around and get the word out.  We still need a cure!

Still here

Mommy said to tell everyone its her fault I'm behind.  We have been really busy this summer, but that doesn't mean raising awareness isn't part of it.  I'm still raising money too.  I forgot to tell you that my school is also doing a Walk for Kids next year.  We were going to do it before school got out, but decided not to rush it.  Mommy took more pictures of me holding more sneakers, but she forgot where she uploaded them to.  I went to art camp and had a lot of fun.  Today we are going to a wedding and going to see fireworks in the Bay.  Happy 4th of July!

I am still here!!!

I had my bakesale in April.  It was a lot of fun and I raised $250.00 for JDRF from the goodies I helped make and sold.

We had our first ever Walk For a Cure on May 12.  It was a lot of fun.  Our team was Team Giulia.   My daddy made that big sneaker out of wood.
The whole Team Giulia (except for a couple people that couldn't be found for the picture)

And I got glasses.   I'm also behind on posting my sneaker pictures, so I need to get caught up.  Thanks to Melissa, Mr. Farmer, Teresa Pace and Chuck.  I'll try to post some every day.  I'm still raising money, just because the walk is over doesn't mean I stopped.  Just click on the chipin...every dollar makes a difference.
