My name is Lizzie, I'm 10 years old and in the 4th grade.
I like origami and drawing, and littlest pet shop. I love Hello Kitty too.
I have 3 sisters and 2 brothers. My little sister Becca gets her finger poked sometimes to make sure her sugar level is ok. My mommy has some friends whose kids are sick with diabetes, and I wanted to do something to help, so my mommy and I came up with the Cranes 4 a Cure. I want to raise money for the Juvenile Diabetes Foundation. My sister is lucky, she doesn't have diabetes, but a lot of kids do, and it isn't fair. Anyone can get juvenile diabetes, you don't have to have a family history. I think they need to find a cure fast so the kids who have it can be needle free, I don't like needles.

So I guess you want to know what Cranes 4 a Cure is.
It is said that anyone who folds a thousand origami cranes will be granted a wish. Sometimes relatives or friends fold the cranes for someone who has an illness in hopes for recovery or a long life.

My goal is to raise $1,000.00. For every dollar I raise, I am going to make an origami crane and put the name of the person who sent me that dollar on the wing. Then I am going to string all the cranes together and give it to the juvenile diabetes foundation with all the money I raise. Then my wish will be to find a cure. Please help me help those kids with this bad disease. My mommy says she will take a picture of every crane I make and post it here for everyone to see. For more information, please email my mommy, her name is Jenny. A dollar isn't a lot, but it can make a difference. I hope to get some pictures of kids you can help soon.
Thank you.

Cranes 256-258 are Gabriel, Eli and Miri. I gave Miri pink cranes because she had cancer taken out recently and I didn't have any pink ribbon paper.

Cranes 259 and 260 are Cuong and Adalyne. Thanks everyone.
Mommy says to tell you sorry about the pictures lately, she's been busy and by the time she remembers to take my picture, I'm already asleep.

Cranes 251-255

Cranes 251-253 are Claralynn, Billy and Jerrod. Thanks!

Cranes 254-255 are Alyssa and Jeff. Thanks everyone. I meant to post these cranes last night, but my daddy and mommy took Morris, Becca and me to the mall. We got to use our coupons we got from report cards and got a cookie from a cookie place and then went to Moe's and got free dinner. We also got to look around a couple stores. We found one store that has a lot of Hello Kitty stuff, it was fun. Then we went to the store and got popsicles.
Today we had chocolate chip waffles for breakfast and mommy showed us how to make butter. My arms hurt from shaking it, but it was neat to watch it change from cream to butter.

We are getting so much closer to my goal, but I think even after I've reached my goal, I'll keep raising. That means we are so much closer to a cure!

Cranes 226-230

Cranes 226-228 are Bernice, Melissa and Avery. Thank you.

Cranes 229-230 are Ariel and Martha.
I am sorry I haven't been here in a couple days. It's so hot here. Last night my daddy took us to the park downtown to listen to music. They have it every week. He got us nachos and french fries that didn't look like french fries, but they were still good. Today we decorated cupcakes, they sure didn't last long.
I'm really excited about how much we have raised for JDRF! I can't wait until I reach my goal, then I will have to find something else fun to raise more. We have to find that cure!

Cranes 196-200

Cranes 196-200 are Diego, Giulia, Natalia, Pamela and Carol. Thanks everyone.

Mommy says to apologize for not posting regularly this week. It's been crazy. Friday is the last day of school. Tomorrow is a pizza party in my class. I am bringing brownies. I also get to bring my Hello Kitty cd player. Yesterday I found out that I passed the PATS test. That means next year I'll be in the advanced program at school. Today I found out that I made the yearbook club. It's been a good week. Thanks for all the donations so far. I just know we are going to find a cure!

p.s. that's my little brother Morris, he's almost as tall as me.
